If you are driving around, it's a good thing to have a road map on hand.
While we travelled around New Zealand we had a copy of "Hema Roadatlas New Zealand" but there are several other available too.
If you are a member of an international automobile club, it's worth to check at an AA-Branche, New Zealand's automobile club.
