St. Bathans - formerly Dunstan Creek
Two buildings of the goldmining past are in use today. The postoffice and the Vulcan Hotel.
Kildare Hill (once 120 m in high) was reduced by sinking shafts to a pit of 68 m.
After stopping the mining activity the hole filled with water and is now known as Blue Lake.
Raggedy Range - view point
Turn of the main road in Omakau for a 5km detour. After Poolburn the road climbs up the Raggedy Range where you'll have a 360° view across the surrounding landscape.
Alexandra (once known as Manuherikia)
Alexandra is Central Otago's business and political capital as well as a hub for the stonefruit which grows in that region.
Have a look at the stone piers of the old suspension bridge crossed the Clutha river next to the conjunction with Manuherikia River.
If you are in Alexandra around September or November than check for the Alexandra Blossom Festival and the Thyme Festival.
